Role: Creative Director | A few years ago, I started writing about the peculiar and humorous details of a true story I knew: a secret Ivy League society founded by five college girl friends. The valedictorian, supermodel. The Zionist, feminist, folklorist. The pre-med, resident advisor. The wealthy, glam rock loving, Wharton filmaker. And the budding fashion photographer–me. This is our story.
30AD Media Inc. published the book. My team and I oversaw the branding and marketing strategy leading to influencer endorsements and a successful book launch.

30AD Media Inc. needed to create buzz for its new book release, The V Society: The True Story of Rebel-Virgin Girls, a memoir targeting a niche, young adult audience. The V Society required a rock solid marketing strategy to attract influencer endorsements prior to its release.

We created buzz through a focused social media and direct marketing campaign aimed at influencers and the book’s teen-girl target audience. Influencers received a marketing kit, which included an advanced reading copy of the book, a sleek metallic envelope with a personal letter from the author, as well as carefully crafted teasers about the book.
The V Society was featured in national and regional publications, earned endorsements from several high-profile individuals, and garnered positive book reviews online.

Printing The V Society
Our wonderful printers, Bethany Press International in Bloomington, Minnesota made this video clip of The V Society in production on their printing press.
Chapter Title Design
We crafted each chapter title individually by combining uppercase and lowercase letters in various sizes from the Bell MT font family. These titles embody the playfulness and eccentricity of The V Society’s cast of characters.
Direct Marketing
In addition to social media, we reached out to influencers, our online audience, friends, and family via direct mail. We sent out postcard invitations to book signings. Sleek metallic mailers accompanied advanced reading copies of the book, along with a personal letter from the author and a 25% off promotion.
I belong behind the scenes at photo shoots—certainly not in front of the camera. But my longtime friend, Los Angeles photographer Jeff Fiterman, graciously embraced the challenge of creating my author photos on a chilly, soggy San Francisco day.
